Our first ERRS meeting got off to a flying start when Olympic referee - and proud ERRS member - Alex Pratt gave us a presentation about her time in Rio. Alex is unique in that she has now officiated in the Olympic Games, the World Cup, the Six Nations and the Melrose 7s so to be able to hear her talk about her amazing experience was a delight for everyone in the room. The society is incredibly proud of everything Alex has achieved and a rapturous round of applause was the least that she deserved.
One of the great things about ERRS - and indeed other refereeing societies around Scotland - is the way that veteran members are always willing to take the time to help out new rugby referees. Please feel free to approach Alex - or any of our referees - and ask them questions.
Our second speaker for the evening was the no less glamorous Colin Brett who we were delighted to see step in at late notice to give some advice about refereeing the breakdown. Often the most complicated part of the game, Colin spoke clearly and concisely about what referees should be looking out for this year. We hope to have a copy of his presentation available to download on this site in the near future.
If there are any topics you would like to see covered at our monthly meetings please get in touch with someone on the committee and we will do our best to organise it.
